[ More about the Artist ]

Painting satisfies my need for the constant challenge of exploring, seeing, and understanding an environment, and then breaking down that environment by re-constructing it into minute moments. I enjoy the challenge of understanding the medium and catching the environment. There are no shortcuts to this end, and I have discovered that one must be 100% dedicated to capturing interesting moments to succeed. Day by day painting has become an integral part of my life with each new environment acting as my subject.

Personally, I am a rebel compared to the traditional artist. Lugging paintings around to shows and hoping to win awards is not part of my sphere of focus, as I believe that recognition comes from within by completing a work that pleases myself and my viewers. I read somewhere, "Most traditional artists are narcissists who constantly try to love themselves and their art more and more, yet are never content. All artists are mostly miserable because they are always looking to rationalize their work by comparing themselves to other artists as a barometer of growth." Mostly, we as artists are eternal scholars by always learning and studying other artists as we make sense of it all. Also, we are color scientists, composers and ad executives.

Art is a profession as old as the hills. In the beginning we strove to document life as a modern day camera does. Today, having been replaced, we are left to document ourselves and the world as “we see it” rather than how as it really looks.

Painting is a very cerebral act. To "see" through the eyes as an artist means to break down light, organize the composition, and piece elements together is a very scientific process. An artist needs the mind of a scientist to understand how to see and observe, the dexterity of a surgeon to re-create, and the compassion of a poet to express a moment with the combination of love, understanding, and emotion,
